Information about The Fox Nest Finnish-English Preschool group 2019/20
Open House! Welcome to visit and explore The Fox Nest on Thursday 16th of May from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The Fox Nest is a private daycare with a preschool group based on supporting the child’s everyday life, utilising English language and Finnish nature. Our purpose is to create a strong language base, in both English and Finnish, for the children on the learning path that they will begin. The children will have an opportunity to continue in an English class at Kortepohja School.
The preschool group structure is 5 and 6 year-olds together. The daily activity time for preschool education is from 8:00 to 12:00. In addition, families are offered morning and afternoon care. Preschool education is carried out in the indoor and outdoor areas of the daycare and in nearby parks and forests. The nearby forests offer the opportunity to organize preschool education in nature; for example, motor skills, mathematical abilities, conceptualization, and socio-emotional skills. The Kotalampi Sports Park (Comets Park) allows us to practice different kinds of winter sports, such as ice skating, cross-country skiing and sledding. In summer, basketball and football are practiced in the sports park.
We offer high-quality preschool education that takes into account the goals of the national preschool curriculum, the goals of the Jyväskylä City Preschool Curriculum, and the objectives of The Fox Nest preschool, and puts them into practice in child-specific ways such as playing, singing and moving, with emphasis on Finnish Nature and English Language.
The preschool group has a preschool teacher (Preschool education is eligible to be given by a person who has been qualified under this Decree 3.11.2005 / 865). If necessary, the group also includes an assistant.
In Jyväskylä, placement in the preschool group is applied for by electronic application (Jyväskylä City/Daycare and education -sites). Preschool education starting in August 2019 should be applied before the Preshools starts. Or in some cases even after that it is possible to apply to the Preschool. All children born in 2013 are eligible for preschool.
Preschool education is free for families. If you need longer hours, you can apply them as well, but those are then payable.
